Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your Kilimanjaro Mavens safari representative and transferred to your lodge in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s famous northern circuit. Settle in and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere as you unwind from your international journey.
Depending on your arrival time, your guide may meet you for a safari briefing. This is an opportunity to walk through your itinerary, discuss the wildlife you’re likely to encounter, and ask any questions before your adventure begins. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and an overnight stay in Arusha as you prepare for the days ahead.

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, a beautiful wilderness renowned for its ancient baobab trees and one of Africa’s largest elephant populations. As your game drive begins, explore open savannah, seasonal swamps, and acacia woodlands while searching for elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, impalas, and a variety of birdlife.
The Tarangire River attracts wildlife throughout the year, making this one of Tanzania’s finest parks for photography and game viewing.
In the late afternoon, continue to Karatu for your overnight stay.

During your game drive, you may encounter prides of lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, and a wide variety of antelope. Ngorongoro is also one of the best places in Tanzania to search for the endangered black rhino. Beyond its remarkable wildlife, the crater offers breathtaking scenery with forests, grasslands, lakes, and dramatic crater walls.
Later in the afternoon, ascend the crater and return to Karatu for another overnight stay.
