Day-to-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Welcome to Tanzania - Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. This arrival day allows you time to rest after your journey, settle in comfortably, and prepare for the safari ahead.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the lodge, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, or simply take the day to recover from your flight. Arusha serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit and offers a comfortable start to your adventure. If time allows, your guide may provide a short safari briefing to go through the program for the following days and answer any final questions before the safari begins.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Distance: ±120 km | Driving Time: 2–3 hours

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive toward Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic and wildlife-rich parks. The journey takes you through open countryside, local villages, and Maasai landscapes before arriving at the park gate, where your first game drive begins.

Tarangire is especially famous for its enormous baobab trees, large herds of elephants, and the Tarangire River, which attracts a wide variety of wildlife throughout much of the year. As you explore the park, you may encounter elephants moving through the bush, giraffes browsing on acacia trees, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, impalas, warthogs, and a wide range of birdlife. Predators such as lions and leopards also inhabit the park, adding excitement to every game drive.

The beauty of Tarangire lies not only in its wildlife but also in its classic safari scenery. Open savannah, scattered acacia woodland, seasonal swamps, and giant baobab trees create a landscape that feels truly wild and untouched. Your guide will explore different sections of the park, searching for wildlife while sharing insight into the park’s ecosystem and the animals that call it home.

Later in the afternoon, you will leave Tarangire and continue to the Karatu highlands, where the cooler climate and green surroundings offer a peaceful overnight stop before your journey continues to Serengeti the following day.

Day 3: Karatu – Central Serengeti National Park

Distance: ±240 km | Driving Time: 4–5 hours

After breakfast, your safari continues toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area along the way. This is one of the most beautiful drives of the safari, as the landscape gradually changes from the fertile highlands of Karatu to the vast open plains of the Serengeti ecosystem.

As you continue toward Serengeti, the scenery becomes wider and more dramatic, revealing the endless grasslands that have made this  park one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. The Serengeti is celebrated for its rich concentration of wildlife, sweeping landscapes, and its role in one of the world’s most remarkable natural events – the Great Migration.

Game viewing begins as soon as you enter the park. Today you will travel into Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera region, one of the best year-round wildlife areas in the Serengeti. Thanks to permanent water sources and a large resident wildlife population, this area offers excellent opportunities to see both predators and herbivores in a single day.

As you make your way through the plains, you may spot lions resting in the grass, cheetahs scanning the savannah, giraffes feeding among acacia trees, elephants crossing the open landscape, and large herds of zebras, gazelles, and wildebeest moving across the plains. By late afternoon, you will arrive at your tented camp in the heart of Serengeti, where the sounds of nature and the atmosphere of the African bush create a truly memorable safari experience.

Day 4: Full Day Game in Central Serengeti

Game Drive Time: Flexible (morning & afternoon)

Today is dedicated to a full day of game viewing in Central Serengeti, allowing you to experience one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations in more depth. With no long transfer drive today, the day can be spent entirely exploring the rich wildlife areas of the Seronera region and enjoying the freedom to follow animal activity at a relaxed pace.

Central Serengeti is especially known for its high concentration of resident wildlife and outstanding predator sightings. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas are all commonly seen here, making this one of the most exciting places in Tanzania for safari. Early morning often offers some of the best wildlife viewing, as the bush is active and the soft light over the plains creates beautiful safari scenery.

Throughout the day, your guide will explore different habitats within the Central Serengeti, searching for wildlife and following the movement of animals across the plains. You may encounter prides of lions resting in the shade, cheetahs scanning for prey, leopards hidden in trees, or hyenas moving across the grasslands. The open plains are also home to zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, topis, buffalo, giraffes, and many other species, while hippos and crocodiles can often be found around pools and river areas.

A full day in Serengeti also gives you time to appreciate the landscape itself – the endless horizon, scattered kopjes, changing light, and the unique feeling of being surrounded by one of the last great wilderness areas in Africa. Every game drive offers something different, and even the quiet moments become part of what makes Serengeti so unforgettable.

Day 5: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha

Distance: ± km | Driving Time:  hours

After breakfast, depart Serengeti and begin the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to one of the most remarkable safari destinations in Africa — the Ngorongoro Crater. This vast volcanic caldera is one of Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife areas and offers exceptional game viewing in a dramatic natural setting.

Formed millions of years ago when a giant volcano collapsed, the crater has become a self-contained ecosystem filled with open grasslands, acacia woodland, swamps, and freshwater pools, all enclosed by steep crater walls. Once you descend to the crater floor, you will have the opportunity to explore this extraordinary landscape and search for its rich wildlife population.

The crater is home to a high concentration of animals, and game viewing here is often excellent. You may see lions, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, and a variety of antelope species, while the wetlands and lakes attract abundant birdlife. Ngorongoro is also one of the best places in Tanzania for the chance to spot the endangered black rhino, although sightings can never be guaranteed.

Beyond the wildlife, Ngorongoro Crater is famous for its scenery. The dramatic crater walls, open plains, and changing light across the crater floor make it one of the most visually stunning safari destinations in East Africa. After your crater game drive, you will ascend back to the rim and continue to Arusha for your final overnight stay.
