8-Day Trip – Great Migration Calving Season Safari

Tarangire, Ndutu, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater

Trip Overview

Experience one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife spectacles on this unforgettable 8-day trip, including 6 days on safari through Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Carefully designed for travel between December and March, this itinerary takes you to the heart of the Great Migration Calving Season, when hundreds of thousands of wildebeests gather on the fertile plains of Ndutu and Southern Serengeti to give birth to their young.

The calving season is one of the most dramatic periods of the migration cycle. Nearly half a million calves are born within a few short weeks, attracting large concentrations of predators including lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and jackals. This creates exceptional opportunities to witness dramatic wildlife interactions and some of the best game viewing found anywhere in Africa.

Your adventure begins in Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees, picturesque landscapes, and large elephant herds. Continue to the Ndutu region, where vast migration herds roam the short grass plains during the calving season. Spend time exploring the wildlife-rich plains of Central Serengeti, renowned for its year-round game viewing and abundant predator population, before concluding your safari at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater – one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Throughout the journey, you will travel in a specially designed 4×4 safari vehicle accompanied by a professional safari guide whose knowledge and experience will enhance every wildlife encounter. This safari perfectly combines migration action, predator sightings, spectacular scenery, and unforgettable African wilderness experiences.
